Mother’s Day Tribute: She Put The Music In Me

It’s not often that I blog about other artist’s music. Mostly because I write about mental health and relationship topics these days, but also because it takes a lot for me to be really moved by a new artist. I prefer singer-songwriters who have a unique voice or style and who has something important to say. Occasionally, an artist comes along that I fall in love with and I can’t help but spread the word. Enter Calee Reed. A little flattery doesn’t hurt either…Calee says that my music has inspired her over the years. I have a passion for mentoring younger women and so knowing this makes me smile (and feel kinda old).

Calee began writing songs for her album “The Waiting Place” while watching her mother suffer from terminal cancer. During this trying time in her life, music lifted her up and helped her cope – and she is compelled to share that hope with others who might be enduring similar challenges. Her first single and music video She Put the Music in Me is a touching tribute to her mother’s love. Before you start the video, grab a tissue. Consider yourself warned…

If you download this song on iTunes, proceeds will be donated to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the women who have touched my life.

Feel free to share this song with other women in your life.

As a Singer myself, My Mother liked sitting next to me in Church for she was tone deaf and i’d want her to sing with her Spirit. I miss her. She was only 62 when she past and went Home to Heavenly Father.Thank you sweetie for the song and video. It had tears brought to my eyes.

Wow. That video hit home.
…on another note (no pun) I was going an online to search to find a song of yours to use for my Beehive lesson this week. (that’s how I found your website) I have been thinking about my lesson “Reaching out to Others” and praying to know what my girls need to hear…..then tonight, I was clearing up the mess from dinner (4 kids=big mess) and all of a sudden realized that I was singing your song “Hands of Heaven on Earth.” (haven’t listened to it since I was in YW…..a long time ago…) “Reaching out to eachother through our good works. If our hands are always serving and often clasped in prayer, we’ll find the ones who need us, the Lord will lead us there…..” PERFECT for my lesson and I KNOW I received personal revelation. Now I just gotta get my husband to help me download it from itunes and burn it to a CD. Thanks for being an answer to my prayers….even though I prayed this week and you wrote the song years ago.
